Milt Sparks first introduced the #1 Heritage into the production line in 1996 with the idea of creating an IWB holster that would protect the weapon from body sweat well regardless of the level of heat or humidity.
To this end, a waterproof liner was fused into the body side of the holster sandwiched in between the leather outer and inner shells. As with other Milt Sparks IWB holster designs, metal reinforcement has been placed into the mouth of the holster to facilitate easy one-handed reholstering of the pistol. Because the body of the Heritage is comprised of multi-layer construction, the metal strip has been secured in between these sections of leather thus eliminating the need for a separate top band leather piece.
The multi-layer setup in the #1 Heritage IWB holster enabled the Milt Sparks team to bring the smooth-side finish of the leather inside the holster as well as out. This slight change means less abrasion on the finish of the contained gun over the long haul. Those who worry that two layers of leather are significantly more bulky than one can release their fears. Special production techniques translate into the final thickness of the two layers of leather to be no greater than the single layer normally used in other Milt Sparks IWB holsters.
Other features of the #1H include stitched in sight rails, a protective leather shirt guard that extends up the back to the top of the slide and detailed hand molding. All these functions combined with the legendary quality that is universally praised by Milt Sparks IWB holster owners means that this is a holster that will do it jobs well for the long haul.
