In the late 1980's, the business of contracted private personal security began to take off in force. Many of these VIP defenders came from law enforcement or military backgrounds. They were not used to using an IWB holster on a daily basis and even less familiar with having to change through multitude of different outfits depending on the venue at hand.
The result was that many of these highly trained individuals found themselves wearing different belts of different widths for different occasions. This became problematic as most IWB holsters only were designed to fit a belt of a single specific width. At the time the only choice was to buy multiple holsters to fit different belts, but such a path proved to be very expensive.
Since its introduction in 1990, the Executive Companion IWB holster was made to uniquely solve this problem. Not only is the holster comfortable for all-day carry, but it incorporates an interchangeable belt loop system which accommodates belts from 1" in in length all the way up to 1 and 3/4 inches.
The Executive Companion is different than the Summer Special in that it sets the gun deeper in the waistband and places the metal reinforced mouth directly beneath the belt where it can enhance performance. Above the mouth of the holster and between you and the gun, a leather extension provides protection from safeties and keeps you from such inconveniences as re-holstering your shirt.
